in spite of all the positive energy i'm taking in - & working to put out in the world - these days, i'm still perpetually gnawed by melancholy. melancholy for loss. of all kinds. loss of love to be sure, but in particular, the incredible loss i feel at this time of year. in 2 months marks 2 years since i lost my dad, my hero. & in my heart it's only a blip of time. a blip within an eternity of back & forth to sf that culminated in his ending. an eternity of watching him die.
i can't push it away. nor should i. all i can do is let it flow through me.
so i made a mix. most songs are love songs. but ultimately they just make me feel. which i have to do. because it's what you do. to accommodate sadness.
